“Calling it old school doesn't do it justice tbh! Neat, funky, eclectic! And that's just the people lol… great, great live music, incredible vibe, down-to-earth folks, both workers and patrons! Food isn’t a highlight, just a small bar menu, but it was all well prepared! The ambience and history is worth the stop!”

“Refinished and reopened. Hank (Dietle’s) has lost none of it's charm and added great live music!”

“Hank Dietle's is really a cool place for dancing and music…
There is a nice, simple pub snack-y food menu if you got the munchies.
Music and dance is where it's at.”

“I had heard about this place through social media and I love live music so of course we had to stop on our way through Maryland on 4th of July.
We saw Banjer Dan. This was a 5:30p show on the holiday so there weren’t too many people to start but more trickled in as it got later. I was expecting the place to be bigger but it is the perfect size for intimate music experiences. It reminded me somewhat of the Purple Fiddle in WV - if you’re a music enthusiast like I am, take a drive over there too when you get a chance.
We sat at the bar and had a couple drinks while we enjoyed the music. Seth was the bartender and he was awesome. It felt like we were one of this regulars even tho we were there for the first time. Our bar neighbors were friendly too - there’s a very welcoming energy here.
We only had drinks and didn’t eat anything although they do have a food menu. I saw someone with nachos and they looked good. They had several beers and a cider on tap as well as cans/bottles including non-alcoholic beverages.
Parking was a shared lot with the neighboring coffee shop and there were plenty of spots.
This was a free show and I just want to say when you go to free events like this be sure to tip the musicians.
They have live music here all the time. Check the website or social media for who will be performing or just stop in and check out someone new. We had a really good time and I am sure I will be back in the future.”
“What a music lineup! There's at least one show every night. Plus a good selection of beer and cider.”

'We went to Hank Dietle's Tavern in Rockville last night with some friends to check out my favorite drummer Jason Smay and his 23 year old son McKinley James. Mark Wenner from the Nighthawks joined them in the second set. Everything about last night was amazing. The venue probably barely holds 75 people. The dance floor was packed all night with couples dancing and the band just laid it down song after song. No mics on the drums or guitar amps, as it should be, and just dripping with soul. The room sound was amazing and the regular's were super friendly. When we found a table, an older guy came up to the ladies and asked if they wanted some "jewelry" because they were celebrating. It was a plastic necklace with a rolled up dollar bill taped to it. Kim says "sure what are you celebrating". The guys says "Being Here" as he waves his arms at the room. By the end of the night I knew exactly what he meant. If you ever get the chance check out Hank Dietle's and/or the McKinley James Band. They don't make either of 'em this way much these days..."
