The Soul Experience

Come experience a musical celebration of the musicians who created Soul music. From pioneers like Sam Cooke and Etta James to Patti LaBelle and Stevie Wonder, this all-star band brings this magical music to life while providing the perfect music to dance to.

  • Michelle Heaton (vocals): A popular Annapolis-area singer and performer who has performed in Italy, Florida, Virginia, Massachusetts, DC, and Maryland throughout a multi-decade musical journey. Michelle currently leads the dancefloor-oriented bands Mac Heat and Hot FunYuns, both of which provide her with a platform to dig into the Soul, R&B, Blues, and Funk she loves.

  • Michael McHenry (guitar & vocals): One of Annapolis’ favorite musical sons, Michael has had an impressive career, having been signed to Motown Records and performed with The Jackson 5, Sheena Easton, and George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic (among others). He is a prolific songwriter who has produced many albums and leads the popular funk-rock band the Michael McHenry Tribe.

  • Arif Durrani (keyboards & vocals): A longtime member of Jr. Cline and the Recliners, Arif currently brings his many years of R&B organ experience to popular DC-area acts King Soul and Flack. A personal tutorial from Hammond master and New Orleans legend Art Neville helped form Durrani’s attack on the instrument.

  •  Jeff Muller (bass): A veteran bassist, guitarist, songwriter, and producer who has performed with legendary acts including Allen Toussaint, Cyril Neville, Ernie K-Doe, and Eva Cassidy. Jeff is currently completing a new album which includes contributions from Ivan Neville, George Porter Jr., Tommy Malone, Bill Summers, Ron Holloway, and many others.

  • Phil Bucci (drums): A veteran drummer in the DMV, Phil was part of legendary guitarist (and Paul Simon sideman) Vincent Nguini’s band before spending several years living in Tanzania. These days, he helps fill the dance floor as the drummer for The Roustabouts, DC’s finest fiddle blues band.
