The Redwine Jazz Band

The Redwine Jazz Band performed together extensively in the Washington, DC region from 2000-2014. During this time, they recorded 3 professionally produced albums and provided music for 1920s silent films which were commercially released on three DVD sets. Ben Redwine retired from the US Naval Academy in 2014 and moved to New Orleans, breaking up the band. However, the band gets together as often as possible for mini-tours and regional performances. Tom Mitchell is a guitarist and singer rooted 1920’s and 30’s jazz, western swing, country blues and old-time music who performed with Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks for a decade. John Previti, the premiere Washington, DC swing, country, jazz, R&B, soul, and rockabilly bassist performed with Danny Gatton for 18 years.
The band was a featured ensemble at the 2022 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival in New Orleans and has performed at the Whirlybird in Opelousas, Louisiana and at various New Orleans and DMV/ Washington, DC venues over the past decade.
The band is reuniting for a handful of performances in March and April of 2026.
