Richard Green

Richard has been knocking around the East Coast blues scene for nearly 50 years—long enough to earn a reputation, lose some hearing, and gain absolutely zero interest in playing it safe.

Back in the mid-’70s, he led the Charlottesville Allstars, once dubbed by Rolling Stone as “just about the best blues band in the Southeast,” with a version of Muddy Waters’ “Forty Days and Forty Nights” that reportedly carried a bit of Biblical wrath. That energy never really went away.

Green later co-founded DC’s Choirboys with Doug Jay and Dietle’s own Thomas Bowes, staying active through the ’90s before stepping away for the usual “real world” detour. He popped back up over the years with projects like House of Beauty and a run of Allstars reunions, never straying too far from the music.

After hearing loss made full-band gigs tougher, Green pivoted—starting solo livestreams during the pandemic and now returning to the stage in stripped-down form: just him, the songs, and whatever happens in between.

Expect classic blues, deep cuts, sharp turns, and the occasional off-the-rails commentary from someone who’s been there, done that, and kept the receipts.
