Heads Up! A Tribute to Freddie King
The cream of the DMV's blues and roots music scenes play a tribute to The Texas Cannonball, Freddy King!
Freddie King (1934–1976) was an influential American blues guitarist and singer, known as one of the "Three Kings of the Blues" alongside "brothers" B.B. and Albert King. A 6'5" powerhouse from Texas who moved to Chicago, he blended Texas blues with raw Chicago West Side sound, known for hits like "Hide Away" and a sharp, aggressive, Gibson-driven guitar tone. Additionally known for his soulful and powerful voice, King had a major influence on electric blues music and on many later blues guitarists such as Eric Clapton.
Featuring performances by guitarists Pete Kanaras, Andy Rutherford, Mike Dutton, keyboardist Tam Sullivan, bassist Tommy Hannigan, drummer Brian Alpert and vocals by Charlie Owen, and Rob Kilgore.
