Big Howdy Bluegrass Showcase featuring: No Part of Nothin’

The first Saturday of each month Big Howdy hosts a showcase featuring a special guest!

This month features:

No Part of Nothin’ - a Maryland/Washington DC area based band, plays bluegrass and classic country songs featuring tight harmonies, great stories, original songwriting, and virtuoso lead work by some of the region’s best bluegrass pickers. From the festival stage to local clubs and restaurants, This band is attracting attention.

No Part of Nothin was formed when several members met at a monthly bluegrass jam. They sang together on a couple of songs, and the next thing you know they decided to enter the DC Bluegrass Union Festival's band content. And the rest is history!

The band features Michelle Murray on vocals and guitar, Jeff Karn on mandolin and vocals, Keith Arneson on banjo, and Vince Forcier on bass and vocals.

The band has received airplay on Bluegrass Country Radio, The Bluegrass Jamboree, and WAMU's Open Mic Program, and performs regularly in the D.C. Metropolitan area, including at the monthly bluegrass music series at Outta the Way Cafe.

They have also played at several prestigious venues including The Birchmere, Union Stage, Circa Blue Festival where the opened up for the Seldom Scene, and the Brookeville Farm Festival.

They were also recently named as a Wammie (Washington Area Music Award) 2021 finalist for best bluegrass band, and were also nominated as finalists in 2020.

In addition to leading the band, Michelle hosts a nightly radio show on Bluegrass Country radio, which can be heard 24/7 on HD radio at 88.5FM Channel 2 in the Washington area, streaming worldwide at BluegrassCountry.org and via a free smart phone app (Apple iOS and Android devices.)

Big Howdy is a DC-based progressive bluegrass band featuring the duet singing of Dede Wyland and Randy Barrett. The group offers a mix of original songs plus reinterpretations of classic country, bluegrass and roots material. Dede is a nationally recognized vocalist while Randy is a well-established singer songwriter and banjoist. Together with Ira Gitlin on bass and Tom McLaughlin on mandolin, Big Howdy sounds unlike any other band. And that's the way they like it.
