Two singular voices from the roots-rock underground share the stage: Jon Langford, co-founder of the Mekons and the Waco Brothers, and Walter Salas-Humara, founding songwriter of the Silos. Expect a night of vivid storytelling, sharp wit, punk-bred energy, and songs rooted in country, rock ’n’ roll, and everyday American life.

Welsh-born, Chicago-based artist and musician Jon Langford helped form the influential punk band The Mekons in 1977. Across decades with the Mekons, Waco Brothers, solo projects, and visual art, Langford has remained a fiercely independent force—blending punk urgency with folk, country, and working-class storytelling.

Walter Salas-Humara co-founded The Silos in New York City in 1985, helping shape the sound later known as alt-country and Americana. The Silos were voted Best New American Band in the 1987 Rolling Stone Critics’ Poll, and Salas-Humara continues to pair his gravel-edged voice, hook-filled songs, and observant, humane narratives with a parallel career as a painter.

This is a rare chance to hear two enduring artists whose songs favor character, craft, and conviction over passing trends.
